What We Believe
Grace Alone--We are sinners in need of the Savior. So God, being rich in mercy, intervened on our behalf. He didn't just not give us what our sins deserve; He poured out His grace and love upon us. Through the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ, the Father has adopted us as His children and now we receive all that entails, including a relationship with God now, and eternity with Him in the future. His action alone makes us His.
Faith Alone--This is a gift freely given to all who believe. We can't and shouldn't try to earn this on our own merit. It can't be done. God's Spirit works faith in our hearts to believe and trust in Jesus alone.
Scripture Alone--We learn about all this in God's holy word, the Bible. It is inerrant, infallible, and sufficient to teach us about salvation. It is our standard for everything we believe and teach.
Along with the whole Christian church, we believe in the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and hold to the three ecumenical creeds (Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian).
Bethel is part of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod. If you are curious about what the LC--MS believes and teaches, you can find resources at www.lcms.org/about/beliefs or just contact Pastor Scott!
